INTERNATIONAL MASTERCLASS RUTGER HAUER
18 THROUGH 28 JUNE 2009
From June 18th through 28th 2009 the Rutger Hauer Filmfactory organises for the third time a ten-day international Master class in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, in which actor and filmmaker Rutger Hauer shares his knowledge, vision and passion for the art of filmmaking with thirty ambitious filmmakers from all over the world. In ten days they make 12 short films under the inspired leadership of Rutger Hauer and a team of international experts.
During the Master class the participants will be formed in teams consisting of a director, cinematographer, producer, actor(s) and editor. Together they form a production team. In ten days each team produces two short films that will be premiered at the end of the Master class. While going through the process of making both films, the participants learn to get rid of the more conventional ways of filmmaking and thus learn to find their own personal path in filmmaking. Their flexibility and ability for both creative thought and collaboration will be tested and challenged by numerous obstacles and unexpected turns.
During those ten days the team members will participate in workshops and lectures of all possible facets of filmmaking. Previously these have been given by a range of international renowned film professionals like Anton Corbijn, San Fu Maltha, Paul Ruven, Molly Stensgaard (Denmark) and John Putch (USA). The names of the participating filmmakers of this year’s edition will soon be made public.
Participants in the two earlier successful Master classes originated from a range of countries including New Zealand, North and South America, Germany, England, Italy, Estonia, France and the Netherlands.
APPLICATIONS ARE WELCOME FROM DIRECTORS, CINEMATOGRAPHERS, (CREATIVE) PRODUCERS, ACTORS AND EDITORS WITH PERCEPTIBLE EXPERIENCE WITH ONE OR MORE FILMS (FEATURE/SHORT FILMS/TELEVISION DRAMA/COMMERCIALS).

The fee for attending the Rutger Hauer Filmfactory 2009 is EUR 2.500,- excl VAT. This covers the production of the short films, accommodation and full board costs for the whole period of the Masterclass. The official language of the masterclass is English.
